SECOND KEY LESSONS FROM THE PRESENTATION CLASS

Image
Third session of the PowerPoint Presentation Class at Paradigm Initiative with the Ajegunle Life students. These were the key lessons learnt. ______________________ - You don't get a second chance to create a first impression, so make the first appearance remarkable. - Your smile is one of the most powerful therapy to deal with nervousness. It commands influence and provokes confidence. - As much as you do the talking, do the listening. As much as you do the gestures, observe body language as feedback. Remember, communicate is not complete without positive feedbacks. - Learn to master the ideology of sequence with your points. Make sure "Point A" has an interest link to "Point B". You can't afford to be mentally disorganized. - Become a likable personality on stage. The truth is, people listen to who they like. Just add some panache and style to your delivery. "Become someone that talks and everyone will want to listen". ©Tosin Ikuyinminu ...

KEY LESSONS FROM THE PRESENTATION CLASS

Image
I never joke with the opportunity to share my thoughts and experience with young people of which I am too. It's always a powerful experience training young people on the subject matter "Presentation". As a matter of fact, so far I think I have learnt a lot from the students as well even while teaching. These are my key lessons from the class, maybe they might help you too; - You will always be confident to speak about what know, so do the knowledge work first. - Everyone get nervous while being called upon to address an audience, the difference is how you deal with it and move on. - You become an expert when your confidence shift from being just an act to becoming a person inside of you. - Presentation is everything we do at school, work, home etc. We are always exhibiting something to someone consciously or unconsciously. - Life is always auditioning you either you are aware of it or not, so always give out your best shot, you never can tell who is watching. ©To...

YOU AND YOUR MARKET

Image
Let me share a story with you about the woman popularly known as "Iya Ibadan" who sells kerosene opposite my compound. Ever since we relocated to the street, I have known her to be the only person that sells kerosene closest to us even though there were several other persons who were also selling kerosene in the street as well. We had always assume her to be one of the regular uneducated business woman who owns a shop and sell her market to support the family as a wife and as a mother. You would not imagine what I was able to learn from the so called "Regular Uneducated Business Woman". This was exactly what happened. ______________________ Early this year, when the recession became a hot cake and affected the price of virtually everything in the market. The cost of kerosene also inflated and it became obvious that everyone was already looking for a better alternative to cook. Eventually, I started noticing people began to use cooking gas cylinder and refill....

FACEBOOK SALES HACK

Image
Let me tell you why you aren't making sales via Facebook yet. This might not even sound strange to you at all but I can assure you that it's something you've been ignorant about for a long while now on social media. Let me share an experience with you. I accepted a young lady's friend request on Facebook, after a while she messaged me and we had an introductory conversation sharing what we both do professionally and career wise.  After that first conversation, we both didn't talk again for like two months or there about. She now finally buzzed me the second time after a while and from the way she was chatting this time around, I noticed the conversation was becoming more urgent like there was a goal involved in terms of her approach, so I was following smartly. Then, all of a sudden she just jumped in from no where in the context of the conversation telling me about some skincare product, emphasizing the benefits and efficiency of the body cream and I was left...

HOW I DEVELOPED PASSION IN FURNITURE MAKING (Part 1)

Image
Right from when I was a kid, I always knew I had this flair for art, designs and colours aside public speaking. This was a major thing for me to the extent that it influenced my dress sense, my enthusiasm for graphic designing and my respect for art. So this was how it all happened... After my encounter with an inspiring entrepreneur in the furniture and interior design industry Adebiyi Fawole, who exposed me to the stress, fun and beauty of furniture making. I was opportune to connect with a lot of carpenters, upholsterers and wood work artisans. This exposed me to a lot of sawmills and market places where furniture materials are sold in Lagos. I must confess, I really experienced the intensive work in terms of energy, resources and time this guy's go through before they can come up with a beautiful furniture piece like the chairs, dinning set, cabinet, wardrobe, beds, console, kitchen setting etc. Trust me, all these items I mentioned really take an intensive work to produce...

THE TRUE WEALTHY MAN

Image
I was watching a vox pop on TV three weeks ago and the interviewer was asking some series interesting questions on the streets and one specifically got my attention the most which was when he asked, " if you were notified by your bank account manager that all the millions in your account was eliminated without no traceable means to find out what caused such transaction, what will you do? " A lot of interesting response came as the question was asked to some persons, in fact some said they will commit suicide others said they might never recover from such lose. Amongst all of them a particular man's statement inspired me and this was his comments, " If such happen to me, of course I will feel bad but I have no choice but to move on with my life ", the interviewer was so amazed with such response of which he was forced to ask why and the man replied saying, " if I truly made the first millions of naira in my account then that means I can make the money ag...

WHAT A BEGGAR!

Image
I will never forget this experience I had five days ago. I was at the workshop with some artisans when a dumb beggar came making all sort of gesture trying to communicate to us in helping him with some money to eat and surprisingly he brought out ten naira note giving signals expressing that was the only money left with him. Humorously, I replied him saying, I even don't have any money with me, he should be thankful that he even has ten naira and I wouldn't even mind if he could give me the ten naira with him. Surprisingly, he smiled giving me the last ten naira note with him and immediately he left. I paused for some seconds as I was so shocked with such response from a beggar, believe me if I tell you I have never seen such in my life. What a beggar ! Immediately, I removed the last one thousand naira note I had with me from my wallet and ran out chasing him as I gave him the money. He couldn't say anything obviously because he was dumb but I could tell from his expr...
